Yoga #1 - The Slow Home Experiment

Yoga #1 - Episode 53 of The Slow Home PodcastLast week, as we wrapped up our no-sugar experiment, we told you we'd teamed up with the awesome Adriene Mishler of Yoga With Adriene for this month's experiment - 30 days of yoga! Now we're a week in and already feeling the massive benefits of slowing down and doing yoga erryday. This week Ben and I chat about the initial struggle to get up and out of bed half an hour earlier every day, as well as the inevitable challenge of early-rising kids (see Exhibit A above) and dogs who think the yoga mat is nothing more than Belly Rub HQ.We have managed to get our yoga in every day so far though and are both feeling incredibly well for it. Abs day was tough (in a good way) and Day 7 definitely felt challenging, but even on those days I really, really don't want to get up and into it, I feel amazing afterwards.Ben's goal is to be able to touch his toes at the end of the month, or at least some time in the future, and he's promised to post a progress photo each week, to prove that you don't need to be ultra flexible or experienced in yoga to get the benefits. This is where he was at the beginning of the experiment:Ben's progress with Yoga Every Day - The Slow Home ExperimentAnd the improvement is already obvious! This is him after a week:The Slow Home Experiment - Yoga Every Day For me, I want to work on being present in the moment and getting rid of my damn shoulder earrings! Not sure how to take a photo of that though, so I'll be sure to include some awkward tree pose photos or something next week.Don't forget, if you want to play along with us this month, join in and tag your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram posts with #slowhomeexperiment and let us know how you're finding it.Enjoy!
