Just because it’s the holidays, and just because we love you all dearly, consider this a thank you gift for those who A) love an unedited poggie and B) wanted to hear a reading of a special little something I unearthed a few weeks ago…
For years people would ask me what my biggest decluttering regret was and I never had a good answer because I genuinely couldn’t think of anything I missed. That was, until the day I realised my beloved Hobbit poem (a reimagining of Tolkien’s epic tale that I wrote as an 11-year) had been accidentally decluttered. Not a big deal, sure. But at least it gave me an interesting story to tell people when the inevitable question arose.
A few weeks ago, I was looking for some paperwork and found my poem tucked in a folder of academic transcripts. As an end of year treat (for me, anyway!) and as a thank you to this amazing community of Slow Home listeners and readers here is a live Boxing Day reading of this previously lost masterpiece.
Happy Holidays, and we love you all!
