Top 10 of 2021 - A Hostful

Well, it's that time of the year again. The final pod is here, and as is tradition, Ben and I round out the year with our very own Top 10 list.

First though, Ben decides to turn the tables and interview me. He digs in to some of the recurring themes of Season 8 - namely sobriety, health and creativity - and it's as human and messy as you might expect.

We then dive into our personal Top 10s, which, if you’ve listened to the pod for a while, you might remember is a list of some of the most fun and memorable experiences of our year. We missed it last year (because 2020) but we wanted to bring it back today, not only because it’s a light-hearted way to think back on a very strange and difficult year, but it’s also a really fun way to remember all the good that happened too.

We reflect on our individual favourite:

  • TV show

  • small detail

  • movie

  • new destination

  • book

  • discovery

  • album

  • new podcast

  • meal

  • experience

It’s a really fun exercise and I’d encourage you to do something similar over the holidays with friends or family - both as a way of remembering the hard stuff and reminding yourself of the good amongst it all.

I’m about to turn on my out-of-office notifications for the year (YAY!) but before I do, I just wanted to thank you all for listening to the podcast, supporting the release of Care, sending your well wishes and generally being awesome. It has made such a difference to the way I’ve been able to navigate this year, and means I can look forward to 2022 with a lot of hope and excitement.

Also, if you’re worried about pod withdrawal symptoms over the January break, fear not! The annual Summer Series/Winter Warmies (where we share some of our favourite past episodes) will be in your earholes all through the holidays, with the first episode dropping on Jan 6.

Take care, happy holidays and I’ll see you in February.
